Burma Chindits

We have extensive knowledge of the reclaimed timber trade here at Burma Chindits.   This company was first dreamed of whilst managing a reclaimed timber firm in New Zealand. We are able to custom select orders for export from the large stockpiles of reclaimed timber that we have available.  The main timber species available are Old Growth Burmese Teak and Pyinkado (golden to red brown hardwood ideal for floors and many constructional uses).   We have experience of supplying reclaimed timbers for major building projects. Timber can be cleaned, planed, denailed but not metal checked, docked to length and fumigated. We can also offer timber that can be custom carved for a really special touch for your home, e.g. doors, fire surrounds, posts etc. We welcome enquires of any size.

The Chindits were an Allied Special Force formed and lead by General Orde Wingate.  They fought deep behind enemy lines in World War II (1943-44) in Northern Burma against the Japanese.  They were successful in their operation in recapturing Burma from the Japanese. Chindits is a corruption of the Burmese word Chinthe, the Burmese word for the mythical lion guardians of Burmese pagodas.
